Fix 1: Verify Remnant 2 Game Files

One of the possible causes of the error is that some of the game files are corrupted or missing. To fix this, you need to verify the integrity of the game files on Steam.

Step 1: Launch Steam and go to your Library.

Step 2: Right-click on Remnant 2 and select Properties.

Step 3: Go to the Local Files tab and click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Step 4: Wait for the process to complete and then restart your computer.

Launch Remnant 2 and see if the error is gone.

Fix 2: Update Windows to the Latest Version

Another possible cause of the error is that your Windows system is outdated or incompatible with DirectX 12.

Fix 4: Add -d3d12 to the Launch Settings

According to some users on Tom’s Hardware, Remnant 2 won’t require DirectX12 after they have installed the Studio driver. The Studio Driver, which is mainly used for video editing, animation and gaming, may offer better compatibility and performance with DirectX 12 games like Remnant. 

Step 1: Launch Nvidia GeForce Experience and click on Driver.

Step 2: Locate the three vertical dots button next to the “Check for updates”.

Step 3: Click on the dots and select the Studio driver.

Step 4: Run the installer and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Note: If you want to enjoy another game, don’t forget to switch back to the Game Ready driver.
