Fix: Some Keys on Keyboard Not Working

These days, a user reached us for help: “Some of the keys on my keyboard aren't working. What should I do?”

Some keys on keyboard not working issue isn’t a common computer issue but it still haunts us when it happens. The common situations of this issue are function keys not working and Fn key not working.     Solution 1. Restart Your Computer

    This solution is easy to operate but sometimes effective. Do as follows:

    Step 1. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer.

    Step 2. Turn off the computer and disconnect the AC power cord.

    Step 3. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds.

    Step 4. Plug in the power cord and turn on the computer.

    Now you can try the keys on the keyboard to see if they are working normally.

    If you are using laptop, you can try to shut down the laptop and remove the battery and power cord for a while. Then press and hold the power button for 60 seconds as well. Finally, put the battery back and plug in the power cord to restart the laptop. Many users reported that this method worked.

    Solution 2. Clean the Keyboard to Remove Some Dust

    The dust on your keyboard or around the keys may obstruct the keys’ movement and interfere with their circuitry. In some cases, this method also works for troubleshooting some keys on keyboard not working issue. If restarting the computer doesn’t work, you can try this. Clean the keyboard gaps with compressed air or remove the keys that aren’t working and remove the dust around them.

    Solution 3. Reinstall or Update the Keyboard Driver
