Fix 1. Run “sfc /scannow” Command to Detect Corrupt System Files

  • Fix 2. Uninstall Microsoft Photos and Reinstall It

    To work around file system error 2147219196, the second fix you can try is to uninstall Microsoft Photos. And then remove the leftover files and reinstall it. Do as follows:

    Step 1. Press Windows key + X and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin) to launch PowerShell as administrator.

    Step 2. Run the command below to remove the Microsoft Photos:

  • Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos | Remove-AppxPackage

  • Step 3. Click here to download PsExec from Microsoft official website and extract the contents of the archive to a folder, named as d:\tools.

    Step 4. Launch Command Prompt as administrator, type the following command into it and hit Enter to run:

  • d:\tools\PsExec.exe -sid c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

  • Step 5. Then a new Command Prompt window will pop up. Run the following command in the new Command Prompt window:

  • rd /s "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_2018.18051.17710.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe"

  • If there is a prompt for confirmation as shown below, type into Y. Then the package folder of Microsoft Photos will be deleted completely.

    Note: The version number in the folder name will vary. You need to change it according to the version of Microsoft Photos installed in your computer. The best way to find the exact folder name quickly is to type the folder path into the Run dialog box. Then it will auto-complete the full path. You can copy the full folder path here and paste it to the Command Prompt window.

    Step 6. Launch Microsoft Store, search for Microsoft Photos and reinstall it.

    Fix 3. Reinstall All the Universal Windows Platform Apps

    If the two fixes above don’t change anything, you can try this fix to address file system error 2147219196. It is widely used to address the issues when the UWP apps can’t work normally. The steps are very simple. Just need to launch PowerShell as administrator and run the following command:

    Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    This process will cost several minutes, please wait patiently. When the process is finished, all the UWP apps will be reinstalled. Then you can try to launch Microsoft Photos again to see whether the file system error 2147219196 is gone.
