OneDrive updates and the ability to sync automatically on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 will be halted on March 1, 2022. It means that users of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 will no longer be able to sync their files to the cloud after that day. But, they will still have the access to files on the OneDrive app. The problem is that these files will not automatically upload to the cloud. But don’t worry too much. According to Microsoft, users can back up their files by uploading them to the OneDrive web app.
Besides, users whose devices cannot run Windows 10 or Windows 11 will not be able to receive OneDrive updates. Big fans of OneDrive app should upgrade their operating system to newer version before March 1, 2022. “To focus resources on new technologies and operating systems, and to provide users with the most up-to-date and secure experience”, Microsoft will also end the OneDrive support on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on January 1.
